For a number of years the team at Poronui has been presenting boutique food and wine weekends in conjunction with a stellar array of chefs and local wineries. Our objective is still the same – to provide a high quality dining experience to all our guests, over and above the majesty and outdoor delights of Poronui itself. Photography Weekend
What a rare treat! Spend the weekend learning from one of the world's top fly fishing and wilderness photographers - Val Atkinson. Val has taken most of the images on our website and he has kindly made some time available to share tips and tricks, as well as some of his own work, with 11 lucky couples. Maoritanga
Poronui also offers a unique Maori cultural experience on neighbouring Tuwharetoa tribal land. Kai Waho can be translated as 'outdoor cuisine' and can also describe a master, or teacher, of the ways of the wilderness. Combine these and you have an unparalleled food and wilderness experience with Tom Loughlin. As 'tangata whenua' (person of the land), Tom is not only passionate about his culture, but is also a professional chef and expert hunter/gatherer and incorporates shared knowledge and stories.
