Food & Wine Weekends

At Poronui we are passionate about our food and wine, so for the last few years we have hosted weekend events focusing solely on eating, drinking and relaxing in our beautiful wilderness.  Top chefs from around New Zealand are invited to create a degustation menu in collaboration with a guest wine maker, and the results are always outstanding.   Sample menus from past events are included below and you can see pictures of some of the dishes in our Photo Gallery.  These events have become so popular that October is etched in many diaries for a compulsory return visit. 

2010 Food and Wine Calendar

Join us in 2010 for our 5th Annual Food and Wine Experience.  Calendar details can be found here, along with profiles of this years' chefs and wine-makers.  The weekends are strictly limited to 11 couples and space fills quickly. This year we will again host chefs Al Brown and Martin Bosley, and wine makers Tim Heath and Duncan Forsyth from Cloudy Bay and Mount Edwards respectively; and for the first time we are very proud to announce that Geoff Scott chef/owner of Vinnies Restaurant in Auckland will be joining us, along with Warren Gibson of Trinity Wines in Hawkes Bay.

The Saturday night dining experience is always held in our atmospheric 10,000 bottle wine cellar. The guest wine maker shares his expertise with you throughout the meal and the chef will join the table when he is finished in the kitchen.
